Heart of the Mission

The heart of the mission is one of SMC’s annual meeting places. The day often includes conversations about difficult or sensitive topics in a safe room among SMR’s members. This year’s meeting place is partly an important day for SMC’s member organisations, not only for conversations on how the network should work in the future but also for celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Lausanne Declaration!

Part 1

The first half of the day, 10.00-12.00, consists of conversations about SMC’s identity in a changed world – what is the heart of SMC? This part of the day is addressed to SMC’s member organisations. It is possible to participate only during this part of the day, but we encourage you to stay during the afternoon session as well. Swedish is the main language during this part of the day, but there will be interpretations in English if needed.

Part 2

During the afternoon, we will pay attention to the 50th anniversary of the Lausanne Declaration. This fall, a large conference on this theme has been arranged in Seoul. Several participants in the Heart of the Mission will have fresh impressions from this conference, which they will share in a panel discussion. The celebration ends with a service where the Immanuel gospel choir will sing for us.

English is the main language during the afternoon. Regardless, of whether you work in a member organisation or not, you are most welcome during this part of the day!
