Workshop about Religious literacy in project planning

Welcome to a workshop about Religious literacy in project planning!

Religious literacy plays a crucial role in promoting and deepening rights-based development cooperation, peacebuilding and humanitarian aid. Religion plays a decisive role in many people’s decisions and life choices. How we cooperate with religious actors is therefore often decisive for how we will reach our goals. There is a risk that religious actors are overlooked when Swedish organisations are not aware of their role and do not include these important actors already in the planning work for upcoming projects.

In difficult contexts, the concept of religious literacy may at first appear too theoretical and thus difficult to apply. But there are concrete ways and readily available methods.

During the fall of 2024, the Knowledge Forum for Religion and Development is planning two seminars with this theme. SMC, together with the LM International, are hosting the event. This is the first of two seminars and is held at the Ecumenical Centre, Alvik.

Time: September 30, 10.15-12.30
Venue: The Ecumenical Centre, Alvikstorg

The invitation is addressed to all organisations that want to deepen their understanding of the role of religion in project and program planning.
