Church Community Transformation

On March 12th and 13th, we will arrange two thematic days you are welcome to consider as two parts of one event. The first day has been prepared by the SMC together with the SAM and PMU, while the second day has been prepared by the delegates at the 2024 Global Lausanne Congress in Seoul.

Church Community Transformation

March 12, 2025, at 10.00-17.00. The venue for both days is Folkungakyrkan, Folkungagatan 90 on Södermalm, Stockholm.

SMC – Faith in Development, together with the Swedish Alliance Mission (SAM) and the Pentecostal Mission’s Development Cooperation (PMU), invite you to a seminar where you can get acquainted with the work that SAM has done together with Tearfund and sister churches in Southern Africa.

From Tearfund, Stephen German (England) and Martin Uswege (Tanzania) participate. In addition to them, Lars-Åke Winberg (SAM), Martin Ström (SAM), Niclas Lindgren (PMU) and Petter Jakobsson (SMR) will contribute.

The day will include lectures, Bible studies and group discussions.

As part of the day, Tearfund presents a program/process called the Church and Community Mobilisation Process (CCMP) or Church Community Transformation (CCT) that has been in Tearfund’s “toolbox” for many years.

This is how Tearfund describes its method and work:

“We believe that local churches—wherever they are in the world—begin a lifelong journey as they embrace and commit to living out a theology we call “integrated mission.” This journey strengthens them, changes mindsets, and brings about a holistic transformation in both church and society. The ultimate goal of this journey is to see broken relationships with God, fellow human beings, and creation restored. The Church strives for change “for life” and can respond broadly to the needs of the local community. When people realize their potential and discover the gifts that God has given them, they can overcome poverty from their own holistic perspective. The goal of this journey is called “church and community transformation” (CCT).

Since 2023, SAM has initiated CCT/CCMP through its sister churches in southern Africa and the enthusiasm is very high among church leaders in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Malawi and others. We believe that there is great interest among Swedish denominations to take a closer look at how this can become a tool in our collaboration with Christian partners around the world.

Sign up by clicking on the button below. Coffee is included in the registration fee, but lunch and dinner are at cost price in town. The day will be conducted mainly in English.

In collaboration with the delegates who participated in the fourth global Lausanne Congress in Seoul, we also invite you to a meeting the following day:

Follow-up to the Lausanne Congress in Seoul

March 13, 2025, at 9.30-16.00. Folkungakyrkan, Folkungagatan 90 on Södermalm, Stockholm.

At the end of September 2024, the Lausanne Movement held its fourth global congress for world evangelism in Seoul, South Korea. From Sweden, about a dozen people participated in intense days with many exciting impressions. The question is how this is received in a Swedish context. How do we manage this on Swedish soil? The previous Lausanne congresses have had a significant impact on Swedish Christianity, and on Thursday 13 March we therefore invite you to a process day where we together ask ourselves the question: How can the signals from Seoul help challenge missionary work and evangelism in our Swedish context as well?

To be as practical as possible, we will focus on some themes that were highlighted during the congress, both in the comprehensive State of the Great Commission Report and in so-called Gap sessions. The latter is simply about “gaps” that need to be closed, in order for us as a Christianity to be able to fulfil the Great Commission.

As a participant in the day, you will choose one of four themes. You will spend a few hours discussing with others, how we in Sweden can constructively take steps forward to see God’s kingdom grow and bear fruit. The themes in question are Multiplying Missionary Movement, Mission in the Age of Digitalization, Christian in Working Life and The Next Generation.

Register by emailing your name and any special dietary information to info@sea.nu. The registration fee is SEK 200 excl. lunch.
